You know what they say, "No news is good news". Not sure if that is the case. For a SU/WAC point of view, we have some giod news. Idaho, Boise St, and NMSU are still WAC members. Denver has not accepted any invites either. These things take time, but I have not seen any reports - anywhere
Idaho and NMSU have sent out statements basically saying "It doesn't look good for football." I hope Jeff Hurd is working to get some schools lined up soon. If the WAC dissolves, all we can hope for is the Big Sky invite.

I think and hope we will hear something very soon for new members. But, if as I hope, CSUB joins the WAC, the WAC needs to start grooming new members immediately. Some of the D2 schools won't be ready to move up for a couple years so it would be a good idea to start recruiting them now. Survival for the WAC is going to be a marathon, not a sprint. I would love for CSUB to be in this conference with Seattle, and hope it works out.

I agree. There are a lot of D1 bball schools, but most are in the East and Central time zones. We need more D2 schools out west to move up. I hope that GCU is one of those teams. Whether they're for-profit or not, does not bother me. Hopefully Bakersfield has an offer and the other WAC teams stick it out.

I kind of agree with you about GCU. They have resources and are in a good Western location. But the fans and administrations of Idaho, Denver, and I suspect your school won't go for it. That is my opinion at least. I think those three schools are prestigious enough that they wouldn't be able to stomach being in a conference with an online school. I have looked into GCU, and their story is more complicated than people make it out to be. I don't think it is a garbage school from what I have read. And it isn't really an online school the way UofPhoenix and others are. But it doesn't matter, they won't go for it.
Gotta have one more besides UVU and CSUB. Hope the WAC can pluck one of those Summit schools you mentioned. That would be great. And I still think Alaska makes good sense.

I agree and you're right. GCU is not UOP or Devry. However, I dont mind being associated with their sports teams. Athletics is a business now, no need for us or any school to stick our noses up at them because they are "for-profit".
