Here is what I would like to see happen to make the WAC survive as a basketball/olympic conference. Boise St, Idaho, NMSU, Denver, and us make a 8 year pledge to stick this out. The only exception to the rule is leaving for an all sports invite to an FBS league. With the "new WAC5" in place, we must start adding new members.
Add Cal St Bakersfield, UVU, Grand Canyon, Nebraska-Omaha, and Texas-PanAm. I would like to see Northern Arizona and Sacramento St added over UNO and UTPA, but I don't think the BigSky would let them keep their football teams there. The attractive Denver, Seattle, and Phoenix markets allow us to get UNO from the Summit League.
This would give us a very competitive basketball and baseball league. We would keep affiliate members Dallas Baptist and Sac St.
Travel partners would be: NMSU/UTPA DU/UNO BSU/UI UVU/GCU SU/CSUB
I think this is a realistic WAC, but we would need commitments from Boise, Idaho, & NMSU for this to work.

Is Western Washington a possibility?

No, I don't think so. Wouldn't mind them, but I would much rather see Grand Canyon in the WAC.
