It looks very likely that Boise St and Idaho are joining the Big West and Big Sky respectively. That would leave the WAC with 3 teams and very little hope. It would be awful to go back to independence. Maybe the WAC can be re-built using Cal St Bakersfield, UT-Pan American, Utah Valley, and Grand Canyon. Add Chicago St and NJIT only if absolutely necessary.
Other than that, what options do we have? The WCC doesn't want us. Ditto for the Big West. Does the Big Sky want us or would they even take us? Oh well. I think its in our best interest to stay with Denver though.

Indy isn't the worst thing in the world. A 16 team Big Sky would be worse. CSUB just released their basketball schedule, not bad at all. Has Seattle release theirs yet? www.gorunners.com/pdf8/912187.pdf

An 8 team WAC would be better than indy. A lot better. But being in some mega Big Sky or the Summit would be worse.
At least this way SU gets to keep their Root TV deal. And at least Seattle can seek out good affiliate opportunities. The money from the UberBigSky or the Summit wouldn't amount to much, and the odds of getting into the tourney would be very low. If CSUB was getting left out of an 8 team WAC I would be bummed, but if the WAC schools wind up in crappy conferences like a 14 team Big Sky or the Summit, then I would rather CSUB be solo. And I think SU is better off indy than in the Big Sky too.

Agreed. I don't think a 14 team Big Sky would be desirable to anyone. Eventually those Southland teams will get tired of trying to beat out 13 other teams to play in the play-in game. Even though, the more I think about it, its not a bad strategy. If you win the play-in games, you would get the same amount of money as being a 15 seed and upsetting a 2 seed. So not a bad take if you can win them every year.

I really have no idea how this ends. I assume the WAC is dead, and Idaho will go to the Big Sky. I still kind of doubt that the Big Sky adds anyone else, but we will see.
If the Big Sky doesn't add anyone else, then there will be a bunch of indy schools. I don't think the Great West is going to make it much longer.

Well if the WAC dissolves, where do the teams go? Last year the Great West went to the NCAA and asked them for an auto-bid, they were unsuccessful, but maybe with a WAC team or 2 and a dissolved WAC they will get their autobid.
Maybe the MAAC will expand and take a NEC or AEC team and then maybe NJIT will find a home. Without NJIT, the Great West looks a little bit better. Chicago St is hopeless, I don't think they will ever find a midwestern league. They have a really nice on- campus arena too.
Again though, this makes no sense. Why not join the WAC and have a more recognizable name and probably more money? If DU & NMSU find other homes, do you think CSUB & SU would join? Besides having more games in Jan, Feb, & March the Great West champion does get a CIT berth.
We'll see. I'm just not very confident the WAC will continue on.

For the first time in weeks I think there is a real chance the WAC survives. The news coming out from Boston and Fullerton is promising for the WAC.
I still hope they find a way to play football in the WAC, after CSUB is invited of course. But a conference that plays FBS football is always better to be in than a AAA conference because of media coverage.

Maybe, you're right. I will believe it when I see it though. Not enough action this past summer.
